For ages, cow has been the lifeline of rural economy and holds a sacred place in our ecological heritage, worshipped as goddess Kamadhenu. Traditionally, milk from Indian breed of cows is considered a rich source of nutrition and is particularly known for low on maintenance costs. Over the years, the lure for high milk yields has resulted in exotic crossbreed of cows, which has resulted in cataclysmic destruction of indigenous Indian cows, which has aggrieved our nation, both economically and spiritually.

The crossbreeds doesn't stand anywhere in comparison to Indian breed of cows, as they run dry quickly, are high on maintenance and are vulnerable to diseases and tropical weather. Clearly, the time has come to act and conserve Indian breed of cows, and Gou Ganga has taken the noble initiative to protect and promote the importance of these cows with a 360 degree approach that begins from saving the cow, utilizing its benefits and passing on the profits to provide nutritious food, shelter and a dignified living to our cows.
